I'm sure all of us in one moment or another craves to find something that reminds us of home. Clumsy, bundles of joy being wrapped in a couple of plates of goodness. As a New Yorker of twenty plus years, I have yet to stumble across a restaurant as warm and enlightening as Yum Cha. It's not sleek and modern, but it invites you in. The servers are not fluent in English but the amount of effort they put in to welcome you and take you to your seats shows that they care about kindness and your wellbeing. I am born in China, and can feel as if I am able to assimilate and communicate with the servers and they are happy to oblige and cater to you especially if you take the chance to learn their language. I have brought two people to this restaurant and both of them enjoyed with the utmost.

As you can see, the portions are huge. Quite enjoyable. This was a picture I took with the dishes: west lake beef soup (center in the square bowl), sauteed baby bok choy with garlic (right side next to soup), steamed pork buns (above the soup), braised bamboo shoots (left of soup), and of course, we made sure to get enough small rice bowls to last a whole family just because chinese food does not taste the same without white rice on the side.

When it comes to what Yum Cha does amazingly is that the restaurant prides itself to provide different foods from each region of China. There are the classic American Chinese dishes for those who are used to enjoying Chinese takeout food, and then there's Szechuan dishes for those who love spice, and there's warm northern side dishes such as the Braised beef noodle soup.

Being that the menu at Yum Cha is huge, there is no limited amount of times you can visit this restaurant and not be fully satisfied. Leaving with a warm and filled stomach is the key here, so if you're looking for small bites, this is not the location to do so. But they do have a bar if you're not interested in the bigger portions of food. Again, this place will please you in whatever capacity you may need.
